Realistic Time and Rates – A Realistic Revolution
MTA NSW has continued to promote the benefits of moving away from Funny Time Funny Money methodology whilst embracing the move towards greater fairness, transparency and consistency as governed by the Motor Vehicle Insurance & Repair Industry, MVIRI, Code of Conduct.
Since the dispute in 2005, MTA NSW has adopted an educational and promotional programme with Insurers and Repairers to ensure the smoothest transition possible from FTFM to RTRM.
This programme has continued in the background with designated key people with major Insurers.
MTA NSW presented its final major presentation to a full chamber of Insurers at the Insurance Council of Australia on Thursday 18th of June 2009.
Whilst this presentation signified NSW’s official transition to Realistic Times methodology for most Repairers from the 1st of July and through the rest of 2009, MTA NSW will continue to talk to other Insurers to ensure our policy of consultation and education with the Insurance Industry is clear, consistent and to the betterment of the Motor Body Repair Industry.
All Insurers have been familiar with RTRM estimation methodology thru the payment of Recoverable and Third party claims in the last 3 years. Approximately 10,000 claims have been carried out, separately costing paint, parts, significant consumables using Real Time Real Money estimating methodology. This will increase dramatically through 2009 with other Insurers.
