Insurer Warranty = “Buy Back”
RWOs (Repairable Write Offs) – Stay Safe & You
Evidence is being provided to MTA NSW regarding Insurance Warranty rework turning into rectifications which then turns into the vehicle being Written-Off.
Once the vehicle is out of the Insurer’s control what happens to that vehicle?
It’s called a RWO (Repairable Write Off) and with that any responsibility to ensuring that Manufacturer’s Specifications are used to return that vehicle back to pre-accident condition are gone.
These poorly repaired vehicles and total losses are then re-registered and sold to the unsuspecting public looking for a bargain, believing that if the vehicle has been registered then it must be roadworthy.
MTA NSW is committed to working with the NSW Government and the Stay Safe committee to ensure that the general public is protected from these practises.

Insurers and the MVIRI Code of Conduct
MTA NSW continues to receive information about some Insurers and their Assessing representatives believing that as they are not Signatories to the Code then it does not apply to them. The Code of Conduct is law in NSW. (Please see OFT’s Press Release attached for more information).
IMMEDIATELY refer all enquires of this nature to MTA NSW !
