Government Announcement of Franchising Code of Conduct Reforms

For the information of MTA NSW Members, please be advised that the Federal Government has today announced reforms to the Franchising Code of Conduct (Franchising Code), including provisions relating specifically to automotive franchising.

The amended Franchising Code improves fairness and transparency and ensures that the regulatory framework keeps pace with changes to business practices. These reforms are attached for our NSW Motor Dealer Members to review the announcement of the reforms to the Franchising Code.

The changes announced follow on from the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Corporations and Financial Services’ ‘Fairness in Franchising’ report and further enhances franchisee protections and put some franchisors on notice to improve engagement and conduct.
