Making things easier - Uncollected Goods Act. 1995 No 68

The Motor Traders’ Association of NSW (MTA NSW), an Employers Association representing thousands of automotive businesses in NSW, continues to play a pivotal role in helping its Members be more productive.

Today, MTA NSW welcomed the news announcing the updated Uncollected Goods Act. 1995 No 68 effective from 1 July 2020.

Since 2018, the Uncollected Goods Act. 1995 No 68, represents MTA NSW’s ongoing commitment to lead robust consultative discussions on behalf of its Members and engage with multiple Government and Industry Lobby stakeholders to repeal and replace the Legislation.

Gary O’Sullivan, Divisional Manager, MTA NSW, who played a key role in the amendment process, commented, “This is great news for our Members!”

“With more than 3,000 Trusted Members right across NSW, the methods for vehicle disposal have been made easier, and this is good for helping businesses know in a straightforward way, how they can now achieve this.”

“We also are aware the new Act provides confidence and assurance that Members will not be caught out with an uncollected vehicle.”

“The key change to the Act more importantly has been the change of monetary values from four to three, up to $1,000, $1,000 - $20,000 and over $20,000 with shorter time frames for vehicle disposal.”

“There is no longer the need for a court order for disposal, instead Members can make an application through NCAT.”

Mr O’Sullivan remarked, “Lastly, on behalf of MTA NSW we would like to recognise the many stakeholders who worked tirelessly to deliver this key part of the Better Business Reform Package.

MTA NSW as an Association remains committed to supporting its Members businesses and the Automotive Industry to be more productive and efficient.
