MTA NSW Donation Supports Much Needed Food Relief

The Motor Traders'
Association of NSW (MTA NSW), the largest representative industry body
in the automotive sector in NSW, has provided a $16,200 donation to the
non-profit organisation, Foodbank NSW & ACT.
This donation
stemmed from the monies raised during the charity auction conducted at the
recent MTA NSW Automotive Excellence Awards 2026 event held in February this
year.
John Robertson, CEO
at Foodbank NSW & ACT, said as the largest and most trusted food relief organisation
in the state and territory, we work with more than 700 Charity Partners and over
900 schools to supply and distribute food to where it’s needed most. The Charity
Partners then distribute these food items to their local communities by
providing affordable groceries, emergency hampers, prepared meals, community
kitchens and food preparation classes.
“At Foodbank NSW
& ACT, we distribute more than 20 million meals each year to people in need
across the state and territory,” Mr Robertson said.
“We know that one in
three households in NSW and the ACT experienced food insecurity in the past
year. And an alarming 74 percent of those households going hungry were
navigating food shortage for the first time ever.
“We believe everyone
should have access to the food they need, but we can’t make that happen without
the support of our communities and partners.
“Every dollar
donated allows us to provide two meals to someone in need. Thanks to MTA NSW and their donation, we’re
able to provide another 32,400 meals to families facing hardship.”
MTA NSW CEO, Stavros
Yallouridis said, “We hope that this donation on behalf of our members will
assist organisations such as Foodbank NSW & ACT to continue their work. MTA
NSW really values ‘giving back’ to communities and therefore are extremely
proud of what this organisation is achieving and their excellent work”.
