National Skills Week 2026

National Skills Week is underway from 24–30 August 2026, shining a spotlight on the important role vocational education and training plays in developing Australia’s skilled workforce.

This year’s theme, “Life Changing”, recognises the impact that practical, industry-relevant training can have on individuals, businesses and entire industries. From apprentices beginning their careers to experienced workers building new capabilities, vocational education provides pathways into meaningful careers while helping employers develop the skills they need for the future.

For the automotive industry, developing a strong pipeline of skilled workers remains critical. As vehicles, technology and customer expectations continue to evolve, businesses need access to quality training that reflects the realities of the modern workplace.

MTA NSW Training works directly with automotive businesses and apprentices to deliver industry-led, workplace-based training supported by experienced trainers who understand the sector.

National Skills Week provides an opportunity to recognise theapprentices, employers and trainers investing in the future of automotive, while encouraging more people to consider the diverse career opportunities available through vocational education and training.

By continuing to invest in skills and apprenticeships, we can help build a capable, adaptable workforce and support a stronger automotive industry for the future.
