MTA BRD Strategy Committee Update
We take this opportunity to update our members on the work being undertaken by the MTA BRD Strategy Committee and the progress being made on several important initiatives aimed at supporting the future of the panel industry.
The MTA BRD Strategy Committee was established to ensure our members have a strong voice in shaping the future of the industry. We understand the challenges our members face every day, and the committee was created as a dedicated forum to listen, collaborate, and work towards practical solutions that deliver meaningful outcomes for repairers.
The committee brings together experienced industry representatives and repairers who share a commitment to supporting our members and strengthening the future of our industry. Through open discussion, member feedback, and engagement across the sector, the committee has worked to identify the issues that matter most and focus on areas where positive change can be achieved.
From these conversations, three key priorities were identified:
NSW Code of Conduct - Improving clarity, consistency, and accountability to support fair and transparent business practices across the industry.
Independent Rate Calculator - Establishing a trusted and transparent benchmarking tool to support fair and sustainable labour repair rates.
Times Guide - Developing an updated guide that reflects modern repair times, evolving vehicle technology, and the current needs of panel businesses.
As part of this ongoing work, the Strategy Committee and MTA NSW representatives have been actively engaging with NSW Fair Trading and the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) and have submitted the draft Code of Conduct and draft Constitution for consideration.
The Code is ready to progress to the next stage, with the objective of achieving formal recognition and implementation across New South Wales.
MTA NSW remains committed to driving this work forward, advocating on behalf of our members, and keeping the industry informed as further progress is made.
