MTA NSW Seeks Temporary Fuel Surcharge for Tow Truck Operators
On behalf of the Tow Truck Members of
the Motor Traders’ Association of NSW, our association has formally requested the
introduction of a temporary fuel surcharge to be applied to towing fees across
the state.
The proposal comes in
response to sustained increases in fuel costs, which are placing significant
pressure on towing operators and impacting day-to-day business viability.
Under the request, a
20% fuel surcharge would be introduced for a period of 60 days. The temporary
measure is intended to provide short-term relief, assisting operators in
managing rising operating expenses while maintaining essential services.
The towing sector plays
a critical role in supporting motorists, emergency services and broader
transport networks. Members have indicated that without interim support
measures, continued cost pressures may affect service delivery and business
sustainability.
MTA NSW is actively
advocating on behalf of its Tow Truck Members and is engaging with relevant
stakeholders regarding this request. Further updates will be provided to
members as more information becomes available.
